Luis Abinader Corona

Born on July 12, 1967.

Married to Mrs. Raquel Arbaje and father of three daughters, Esther Patricia,
Graciela Lucía and Adriana Margarita.

Luis Abinader is the son of businessman and political leader José Rafael Abinader W.
and Mrs. Rosa Sula Corona C.

He studied high school at Loyola Catholic School and later obtained a degree in
Economics from the Santo Domingo Technological Institute (INTEC). He then went
on to pursue postgraduate studies in the field of Project Management at the Arthur D.
Little Institute in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Corporate Finance and Financial
Engineering at Harvard University, as well as Advanced Management at Dartmouth
College in New Hampshire.

At its 2005 National Convention, he was elected Vice President of the Dominican
Revolutionary Party (PRD) and later, with a group of renowned leaders, founded the
Modern Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRM).

In the business field, he served as Chief Executive Officer of the ABICOR Group,
which has developed and operated important tourism projects in the country. This
family-owned Group has led the business project of what is now Cementos Santo
Domingo, of which he is vice president, generating thousands of jobs in the
Dominican Republic.

He has been president of the Association of Hotels of Sosúa and Cabarete and is also a
member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Hotels and
Restaurants (ASONAHORES).

He is also a Member of the Board of Directors of the O&M University Foundation.
He has received notable recognitions and awards in the United States of America,
namely by the State Congress of Rhode Island, for his trajectory in the public,
academic and business fields as well as from the City of Boston Mayor's Office and
the Massachusetts State Senate for his contributions to higher education, civic
engagement, and community service.

In the 2012 Presidential elections, he ran for the Vice Presidency of the Republic for
the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD).

On April 26 2015, with more than 70% of the votes, Luis Abinader was elected as the
Presidential Nominee for the newly founded PRM for the presidential elections to be
held in 2016.

Ahead of the May 2016 elections, he strived to achieve a dignified Presidential project
that would unify the entire opposition and reestablish institutionality and democracy
in the Dominican Republic.

Despite participating in very adverse conditions, with a party that barely had a year
and a half of existence and competing with a President-candidate who had endless
Government resources in his favor, Abinader obtained more than 35% of the votes in
the elections, positioning the PRM as the second political force in the Dominican
Republic.

Again, in 2019, he obtained his Party’s nomination as the Presidential Candidate, and
on 5 July 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, became the President Elect
of the Dominican Republic with more than 50 per cent of the votes.

On August 16, 2020, he was sworn in as President of the Dominican Republic for the
period 2020-2024. His first year in office has had notable achievements such as the
promotion of an independent judicial system, an efficient vaccination program
prioritizing the health of the people, the post-pandemic economic recovery, the
national housing plan, as well as the promotion of 12 reforms to face the historical
challenges of Dominican society.
