Panama's Path: From Geographic Advantage to Global Competitiveness

A conversation with

José Raúl Mulino Quintero
President of the Republic of Panama

and

Mauricio Cárdenas
Adjunct Senior Research Scholar in the Faculty of International and Public Affairs and Global Fellow at the Center on Global Energy Policy

This event explores the key drivers and challenges to growth for a small, open economy in today’s world. Using the Panama Canal as a starting point, this discussion delves into the interconnected themes of economic development, global trade, and national competitiveness—about how a country can successfully leverage its geographic advantages into long-term strategy.

Columbia University students are invited to participate in a moderated question-and-answer session.
