The Romanian perspective on the war against Ukraine and its impact on the Black Sea security

A conversation with

Klaus Werner Iohannis
President of Romania

and

Alexander Cooley
Vice Provost for Academic Centers and Libraries
Claire Tow Professor of Political Science, Barnard College

Welcome by:
Minouche Shafik
President of Columbia University in the City of New York

As a country sharing the longest land border with Ukraine, Romania has been a first responder in handling the impact of the war, and is at the forefront of the international efforts to support Ukraine.

The Russian aggression against Ukraine represents a major violation of the UN Charter and international law. Challenges posed by this aggression and its impact on security of the wider Black Sea region calls for coordinated global action by all responsible members of the international community.

Columbia University students are invited to participate in a moderated question and answer session.

This program is cosponsored by the Center on Global Economy and Governance and Harriman Institute.
